Manufacturing Transfer
Move production without losing quality, supply or customers.
Transferring production, whether offshore to Asia, between suppliers or back home, is one of the riskiest projects a manufacturer can run. Undocumented know-how, requalification delays and supply gaps can cost far more than the transfer was meant to save.
We plan and manage transfers end to end: capturing the process, building bridge stock, relocating tools and equipment, revalidating the process and ramping up the new site, with Lean standard work in place from day one.
- Companies moving production to China or other Asian countries
- Businesses changing suppliers or consolidating sites
- Manufacturers reshoring or nearshoring production

Manufacturing Transfer: common questions.
How long does a manufacturing transfer take?
A single moulding tool can move in weeks; a full product line with assembly, testing and certification typically takes 3–9 months. Planning and documentation make the biggest difference to timing.
Do customers need to re-approve the product?
Often, yes, especially in automotive and medical. We plan the requalification evidence (PPAP, validation, capability studies) from the start so approval is quick.
Transfer plans in 2–4 weeks; full transfers typically 3–9 months depending on complexity.
Every engagement starts with a free consultation and a fixed-scope proposal with clear deliverables, timing and success measures.

DFM review checklist for injection moulded parts
A comprehensive DFM checklist for injection moulded parts, covering material, walls, ribs, bosses, draft, undercuts, gates, tolerances, cosmetics and assembly, drawn from years of reviews and the problems they prevented.
Case studyCase study: moving a tool between suppliers without requalification problems
A consumer products company needed to move a four-cavity tool from China to Malaysia without disrupting supply. Capturing the full process before the move, matching the receiving press and building bridge stock achieved approval in one run, with every Cpk above 1.7 and three production days lost instead of 15.

Moulding defect troubleshooting: a structured approach
Most moulding troubleshooting is trial and error under pressure. A structured approach, from defining the defect and checking what changed to separating design, tool, material and process causes, that finds root causes faster and keeps them fixed.
